All the characters were brilliant especially Milo and Eddie. Good adventure and good fun. I remember seeing the 2017 reboot of “Jumanji. ” It wasn’t my first choice but the film I wanted to see was full. I still questioned going as I remember the original 1995 version as being ‘meh. ’ In any case I went and I loved it. The cast was great, especially Jack Black whose avatar character had been inhabited by a girl. In this direct sequel, the cast remains intact with some great additions in the form of Awkwafina, Danny DeVito and Danny Glover. As the film opens in real life, Spencer (Alex Wolff) has been away at college and his relationship with girlfriend Martha (Morgan Turner) has grown cold. He’s not sure she is still interested and he’s not sure how to approach her. He’s come home where his mom (Marin Hinkle) is caring for her dad, Eddie (DeVito) who has broken his hip. Annoyed by his grandpa’s snoring, Spencer goes into the basement and finds the Jumanji machine that he and his friends smashed at the end of the first film. When Spencer ghosts his friends at dinner, they go back to his house to find him. Meanwhile Eddie received a visit from Milo (Glover), his retired partner at the restaurant they started years ago. Eddie has never forgiven him for retiring, which put Eddie on the shelf as well. When Martha, Bethany (Madison Iseman) and Fridge (Ser’Darius Blain) go to see what happened to Spencer they assume the now working Jumanji gizmo has been activated and he’s been sucked into the game. They decide to take the plunge one more time to find their friend, risking getting caught in the game unable to return to the real world. One thing. They didn’t have time to pick their avatar…all to hilarious results in the other world. To go further would perhaps be giving away too much, but let’s just say, new wrinkles develop on the other side. There you will find Karen Gillan returning as avatar Ruby Roundhouse, Dwayne Johnson as Dr. Smolder Bravestone, Keven Hart as Franklin “Mouse” Finbar and Jack Black as Prof. Shelley Oberon. I was worried since it’s a sequel it wouldn’t hold up but it kept my interest from start to finish. No buyer’s remorse here. The films starts a couple years into the future where the group (Spencer, Fridge, Bethany, and Martha) have been living their lives away from each other but plan a reunion for brunch over the holidays. Spencer who is struggling with his mental health ends up no showing, resulting in the group going to his house in search of him only to find Spencer’s grandfather Eddie (DeVito) and his former business partner Milo (Glover). The adventures begin when the group hears the game playing from the basement. Realizing Spencer is in the game, they agree they must help him, only things don’t go as planned as the game is partially broken resulting in different avatars and Eddie and Milo entering the game instead of Bethany. This also helps to set up the jokes and amusing dialogue throughout the movie. This time they must recover the jewel from Jurgen the Brutal and show it to the sun in order to win the game, all while teaching Eddie and Mile (now played by Hart and Johnson) the ins and outs of the game. Characters swap bodies during the game, new game items, new skills, new dangers in animals and human form, and yes some heartfelt moments or cheesiness (whatever you prefer to call it). Once the game begins, the action starts and is pretty much non-stop. I’ll leave it at this due to spoilers but will say in the credits, there’s potential for another movie (they better do it right if they are going there). Regarding acting, Hart absolutely nailed the part. Don’t get me wrong, they all did great, but Hart shines (anyone who’s a Glover fan will know what I’m talking about). Bonus features include: body swapping snapping into character, reuniting the cast, making of Jumanji: The Next Level, creating the scene ostrich chase, and creating the mandrill bridge scene. These were fun to see after the movie. Parental guidance/trigger warnings: The characters are in a game fighting to stay alive (these are in game)- death, stealing, fighting, weapons, implied affair. Even the ending was one of the best i've seen. all of the animals look other-worldly, but at the same time still look very real. the pegasus was actually my favorite character, partially because it was an avatar and a creature at the same time, partially due to the two charachters they chose to play him & where that journey ultimately leads. You end up with lots of questions though, so i really hope they make a 3rd one that explains things like who or what invented Jumanji and (aside from the occupied avatars) do any of the characters in this world actually exist, or are they all just part of the game?

I have a good feeling about this... Soo. bethany's wish came true. alex is riding her. The music, the story, and the message are phenomenal in Jumanji: The Next Level. Is it me or Rock and Kevin Hart look brothers from different mother's.

Ugh this video. 1 is one hell of a stretch/reach. If the level of the game changes, it only makes sense the characters would too. Most games have you earn them, either over time or purchasing upgrades but for this one they are assigned. NOTHING to do w/ SOR 🙄 You had to of done some sort of research on Zathura to grasp at the straws you did to make a connection but couldnt bother to see how its actually connected huh? 🤯 This video was painful to watch and I need a muscle relaxer from cringing so much 🤦🏻‍♀️ Im just going to stop there because I have nothing nice to say about the rest either...

I dont know why Im watching this. I was really looking forward to see how the new Jumani cast would work with the original cast members, and it was a total blast. Director Jake Kasdan seamlessly wove Danny de Vito, Awkwafina and Danny Glover into Jumanji: The Next Level, each bringing their own skills to the gaming world.
Our original four high school kids are now Freshmen at College, and some handling it better than others. Alex Wolff's Spencer is still the nerd of The Breakfast Club crew, and coming home for Christmas he gets to share his bedroom with Grandpa, played by Danny de Vito, and convalescing after a hip operation. Fun! And Spencer is in no rush to meet up with his pals from detention. He just misses being Dr Bravestone. Do we blame him? Of course not, who wouldn't miss being Dwayne Johnson. Have you seen him? But the kids broke the game up at the end of the last Jumanji.
And when Spencer doesn't arrive his pals come to find him. Ser'Darius Blain again plays Fridge the athlete, Madison Iseman's Bethany is still loving her phone and Morgan Turner's Martha is still loving Spencer, but they never seem to connect anymore. In real life anyway. And when they turn up at Spencer's house they also meet Grandpa Eddie and his friend Milo played by Danny Glover. The old timers have some unfinished business from a long time ago. But the kids are more interested in finding Spencer. And guess where he is.
But with a broken game the characters aren't playing correctly, and we have extra unexpected avatars. Who are more than a little surprised themselves. This could take some getting used to! As a sequel the film more than lives up to its predecessor, with Danny de Vito and Awkwafina excelling as Dr Bravestone and Ming Fleetfoot. Although not always in the right order. The avatars we met in the first movie including Karen Gillan's Ruby Roundhouse, she's still awesome, terrific Kevin Hart's Mouse Finbar and Jack Black's Shelly Oberon are back again for the desert adventure. Casting for both films was incredible. They all work so well together. And Bethany has a whole new sleek body to discover. As well as no phone. Again. But Nick Jonas's Jefferson Seaplane is still in one piece. Thankfully.
And of course Jumanji is again in great danger, this time from the marauding Jurgen the Brutal, played by Rory McCann. And with new skills and weaknesses our players must do what they do best to save Spencer and Jumanji. And it's terrifically funny. I cannot say I'm a fan of gaming but Jumanji is one hell of a ride, with the new wilder levels and fiercer CGI animals. Some of whom even escape out of the broken cartridge box. But that's a whole other level.
With vivid cinematography by Gyula Pados, new desert vistas and snow covered mountain peaks to climb, the prospect of death always hangs over our avatars, with their three lives and counting. And we get through them pretty rapidly just explaining the game. But lives in Jumanji live on, so fly, fly, and maybe see you next time.
